What To Bring

What should I bring to the Excursion to Chichen Itza from my hotel in the Mayan Riviera?

We have the option to swim in a cenote, so a swimsuit, a change of dry clothes and a towel would come in handy. Besides, consider that we are in the Yucatan forest, so the heat can be very suffocating during the summer. We recommend our clients to be prepared. You can also bring other things to entertain yourself on the bus ride.

Please note: It is important to clarify that there aren't hospitals near the area, therefore, people who are under medical treatment or that suffer from any medical condition must bring everything necessary for the proper care of their bodies. People who are on a special diet should know that the buffet lunch has different options, but it may lack foods that you consider important, so it would be a good idea to bring what you consider indispensable.

  • Fully charged phone
  • Camera
  • Cash
  • Beach towels
  • Swimsuit and a change of clothes
  • Comfortable and fresh clothing, we do not recommend dark colors
  • Comfortable footwear (sandals, sneakers)
  • Hats, caps, umbrellas (the bigger better)
  • Sunscreen
  • Mosquito repellent
  • Water
  • Lunch or Snacks for the road
  • Blanket (in case it gets chilly on the bus)
  • Neck pillow
  • Book, notebook or games for the bus ride
  • Small backpack
  • Patience and a good attitude

1.- Does the transportation pick up at my hotel reception?

Indeed, we perform pickups at the lobby at most hotels along the Riviera Maya, as we have a defined logistical route. Nevertheless, if you are staying in a small establishment, an Airbnb, or an apartment, it will be necessary for you to go to a nearby meeting point, which will be previously notified to you

2.- What's the usual timeframe for the pick-up?

The pickup service for the Chichen Itza excursions from the Riviera Maya is commonly carried out within a time range of 06:40 to 07:50 in the morning

3.- I am not staying in a hotel, but in an Airbnb property. In that case, where should I meet the group?

In order to be able to tell you the most accessible meeting point, we request you send us your current location. We have several strategic meeting points throughout the Riviera Maya. Send us a message via WhatsApp to check your location and give you the exact details

4.- What's the process and the estimated time to receive confirmation of the exact time and the definitive pickup location for the Chichen Itza tour?

After finalizing your reservation, we'll provide you with the meeting point and the approximate time within a habitual period of 12 hours. However, if you need an answer without delay, we suggest you contact us through WhatsApp, as this allows us to attend to your request more quickly than the email inbox, which is sometimes saturated

5.- Can I choose the time I will be picked up?

No, unfortunately, it's not possible. This is a group excursion to Chichen Itza that follows a predefined route and itinerary. If your interest is to depart and return at a determined time, we advise you to opt for a private visit to Chichen Itza

6.- In case I'm staying in a hotel, where exactly do I have to wait for the transportation service (for example, at the main reception or at another point)?

The designated waiting area is, habitually, just outside the reception (lobby) of your hotel. However, on rare occasions, it might be necessary for you to go outside the lobby to wait next to the main road or thoroughfare. These cases are exceptional throughout the Riviera Maya

7.- What's the pickup schedule to go to Chichen Itza?

Pick-up time is established based on your accommodation's location, but it is generally within the interval of 06:40 to 07:50 in the morning

To be able to indicate a more precise approximate time, we kindly request that you send us a message with your hotel's location via Google Maps

8.- In the event that I am staying in an Airbnb or a private residence, where will my most convenient meeting or pickup point be established?

Send a message with your location on Google Maps and we'll look for a place close to your accommodation center; it depends heavily on the location of your Airbnb

9.- Is the pickup time the same if my accommodation is in the Riviera Maya hotel zone or in the central part (for example, in Playa del Carmen or Tulum)?

Given that these are different geographical areas, pickup times vary significantly. For us to be able to precisely indicate the estimated pick-up time at your specific hotel, and confirm if the service reaches there, we ask that you send us a message with the name of your accommodation

10.- What type of vehicle will be used for pickup?

Commonly, the initial transfer is made in van-type vehicles whose destination is the point where you will board the main bus that leaves for Chichen Itza. However, there is a possibility that the main bus will pick you up directly. The vehicle assignment is subject to operational logistics and the number of confirmed reservations for that specific date

11.- What action should I take if the transportation does not show up at the exact confirmed pickup time?

You must contact us immediately by sending a message via WhatsApp. This communication is crucial so we can track the location of the transportation. There's a possibility that it's due to a delay, but it's essential that you notify us through that channel

12.- How will I be able to recognize the pickup staff?

Once you confirm your booking, we'll give you all the detailed info about the team member who will come to get you. On top of that, you'll have constant communication via WhatsApp with our customer service department

13.- What happens if the transportation for the tour to Chichen Itza arrives before the agreed-upon time?

Normally, our team will wait until the exact moment that was confirmed to you beforehand. However, it's crucial that you are ready at least 5 minutes before the agreed time and stay alert to your mobile device, as that's how you'll be notified of the transportation arrival

14.- Can we be sure that the pickup is secured?

Of course! Our company takes its word and reputation very seriously. Please send us a text or message when you are already at the meeting point; that way we'll know you're ready and we can calculate the arrival time of your transportation more accurately

15.- What's the max waiting time for the driver at the Riviera Maya meeting spot before they hit the road?

The driver doesn't have a lot of wiggle room because they have to collect other travelers on this group excursion. So, we kindly ask that you be at the agreed-upon spot 5 minutes early so you don't miss out on the tour!

16.- I'm running a bit behind and haven't arrived at the meeting point yet. Could they hold up for me?

That's a complicated situation. Keep in mind that the transfer vehicle already has people they picked up earlier, and after your stop, they have to continue their route to get other customers. The possibility of waiting will be assessed based on the total number of bookings and the amount of delay the transportation has piled up. The main thing is to show up punctually at the meeting spot to avoid losing your spot on the tour

17.- What happens if I show up late to the meeting point and miss my vehicle?

If your group is 4 people or less, we can arrange a new day for your tour. If the group is larger, we ask that you notify us, since every circumstance is checked individually. We insist on the importance of arriving on time at the agreed-upon place and time to avoid such unforeseen events

18.- I've arrived at the meeting point at the agreed time, but the transportation is nowhere in sight. What's the next step?

We ask that you send a notification via WhatsApp confirming your presence at the meeting spot. That way, we can contact the driver to give you an estimate time the vehicle will arrive to pick you up

19.- Is the meeting time for pickup in the Riviera Maya set according to Quintana Roo or Yucatán time?

The time we use is always, without fail, the local time for the state of Quintana Roo

20.- Do I need to show any proof of purchase, ticket, or ID when getting on the transportation?

That's right. After you book, you'll get a PDF document that serves as your service confirmation, and you'll have to flash that to the driver right before boarding

21.- Is there any distinctive feature to help identify the excursion bus when picking you up in the Riviera Maya (like a logo or the company's name)?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to confirm in advance which exact vehicle will pick you up. However, our customer support team will be in constant contact with you via WhatsApp. When you finalize your booking, you'll be told the name of the company that will be in charge of providing the service

22.- Would it be possible to ask for the service to pick me up at a different accommodation in the Riviera Maya than the one I specified in my original booking?

If you let us know at least 24 hours in advance, we can definitely make those adjustments. Last-minute hotel changes aren't cool. You absolutely must notify us ahead of time to make sure we can organize the pickup at the new location

23.- If pickup time is super early and I need to check out, can I travel with my luggage on the bus?

We ask that you send us a message, as these circumstances are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The decision hinges on the time of year and the number of reserved passengers. It's essential that you notify us ahead of time if you need to bring bags so we can check if there's enough capacity on the transportation

24.- Will the position and time of my pickup affect the return schedule when the Chichen Itza guided visit is over?

It's very likely to be a factor. Please let us know your questions through a message. If you have any event afterward and need to get back at a specific time, it's crucial that you inform us to check if your time planning fits the actual duration of the tour

1.- Is it authorized to climb the Kukulcan Pyramid (El Castillo)?

Unfortunately, no. It's absolutely forbidden to climb or have physical contact with the Maya constructions or monuments. Anyone who breaks this rule will risk facing legal action from the Chichen Itza site administration

2.- What's the best day and time to visit Chichen Itza to avoid the huge crowds of visitors?

The most recommended time is very early in the morning, right when the archaeological site opens, between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. If you're interested in a morning visit, we offer tours designed to get to Chichen Itza early. However, this specific excursion unfortunately doesn't make Chichen Itza its first stop

Check out this alternative: Early Arrival Chichen Itza Tour

3.- Is a licensed official guide included in the Chichen Itza Tour?

Yes, an accredited guide will give you a detailed presentation of the most outstanding sites at Chichen Itza. The approximate duration of this talk is 30 to 45 minutes, and then you'll get free time to take photos and explore the archaeological area at your own pace

4.- What kind of clothes and shoes are suggested to wear for the visit?

We recommend bringing comfy shoes, like sneakers, and light clothing due to the high temperature and humidity levels prevalent in the Yucatán Peninsula. We invite you to check this link for a list of suggestions on what to pack

5.- Are there lockers or a spot to drop off my belongings (bulky backpacks, etc.)?

Unfortunately, no. It's crucial that you only bring what's necessary. In certain cases, you might be allowed to leave a few items on the transportation, but you have to ask the guide for permission first so they can take charge of coordinating the safety of your personal effects

6.- Which days have the lowest number of visitors at Chichen Itza?

Usually, the smallest concentration of people is between May and September, and specifically, on Mondays. Nevertheless, Chichen Itza is a very popular destination that sees a considerable flow of tourists throughout the entire year

7.- Is access to the archaeological area allowed with food, liquids, and/or snacks?

In theory, no. Only water is tolerated. The rule is due to the generation of a large amount of waste and the attraction of animals (like dogs and cats), as well as the limited availability of trash cans

8.- Is it mandatory to pay extra fees if I carry a video camera or a GoPro with me?

In the case of a GoPro, it's highly possible you'll have to pay a tax. We recommend verifying with the guide to get updated details regarding this point. The use of mobile phones doesn't have any additional charge

9.- Am I allowed to bring food for my infant?

Yes, you're authorized to bring milk, diapers, and any other items the baby might need

10.- What other essential monuments, besides El Castillo, should I check out during the visit?

In addition to the Kukulkan pyramid or El Castillo, our itinerary covers the surrounding buildings, such as the Temple of a Thousand Columns, the Ball Court, and other relevant constructions located in the central part of Chichen Itza

11.- Can I buy souvenirs, and how feasible is it to bargain with the vendors?

Yes, you have the option to buy souvenirs at Chichen Itza; it's a personal choice. However, we don't think it's the best use of the limited time at the archaeological zone to buy a souvenir you could get at supermarkets (like Walmart or Mega) for a better price. You're totally free to use your free time however you see fit, though

12.- Can I attend the "Nights of Kukulkan" night presentation using the same tour or ticket?

Regrettably, no. This Chichen Itza excursion doesn't cover the "Nights of Kukulkan" event, given that this type of service is not included in our offerings

13.- What are the spots we'll be exploring inside Chichen Itza?

We'll tour the monuments and constructions located in the main sector of the archaeological settlement, such as:

  • The Kukulkan Pyramid or El Castillo
  • The Great Ball Court
  • The Temple of the Warriors
  • The Group of a Thousand Columns
  • The Platform of Venus (or Kukulkan Platform)
  • The Tzompantli (Platform of the Skulls)

Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we won't be able to visit the south zone, where the Observatory, Las Monjas, and La Iglesia are found

If your intention is to see every corner of Chichen Itza, please send us a message so we can find a private tour option that better meets your needs

14.- How long will we be at Chichen Itza?

Our time inside the archaeological zone will be 2 hours

We guarantee that the length of the visit inside Chichen Itza will be 2 hours. If you're looking for a tour that offers a more extended stay at the site, we ask that you contact us via message so we can find an option that fulfills your expectations

15.- What items do I need to bring for the Chichen Itza visit?

We invite you to check this link where you'll find a detailed breakdown of what to bring to Chichen Itza. Nevertheless, the essential items for your visit are:

  • Phone at 100% charge
  • Camera
  • Cash
  • Towels for drying off
  • Swimsuit and a change of dry clothes
  • Comfy and cool clothes (we don't recommend dark colors)
  • Comfy footwear (sneakers, sandals)
  • Hats, caps, umbrellas (the bigger the better!)
  • Sunscreen
  • Mosquito repellent
  • Water
  • Food or snacks for the road
  • A blanket to cover up in case the bus is too cold
  • Neck pillow for sleeping
  • Book, notebook, or games to keep you busy on the transport
  • Small backpack to put all this stuff in

1.- What's the total distance of the trip from my starting point to Chichen Itza?

The distance from the Riviera Maya to Chichen Itza is quite a haul; the travel time is about 2.5 hours for the way there and 2.5 hours for the way back. Keep in mind that for the round-trip travel alone, you'll need to estimate a total of 5 hours

Take a look at this link for more info: How long is a trip to Chichen Itza?

To get a clearer idea, you can check this map: Check this map

4.- Is the duration of the stay at Chichen Itza unalterable, or can I extend my visit if I want to?

Since this is a group / shared trip, the established period inside the archaeological zone is 2 hours, and it's not feasible to stay longer. However, if your wish or expectation is to spend more time at Chichen Itza, please send a message, and we'll be happy to look for an alternative that meets your requirements

For a more detailed explanation, you can check this link: How much time is needed to see Chichen Itza?

The approximate time you'll spend at the cenote is 60 minutes

6.- Are life vests and lockers provided at the cenote?

The long itinerary is due to the considerable distance we have to cover from the Riviera Maya to Chichen Itza. It's not nearby and is actually located in a different state (Yucatán). On top of that, we add visits to other points of interest, like lunchtime, the cenote, and the short stop in Valladolid, which results in a total estimated tour time of 12 hours

9.- If the itinerary includes a stop in Valladolid, how much free time will we have to explore the small town?

It's a short stop, about 30 minutes

10.- On the round trip to Chichen Itza, will there be any technical or rest breaks?

Yes. The first stop is usually at a hacienda, approximately 30 minutes before arriving at Chichen Itza, for lunchtime. After the Chichen Itza visit, we explore the cenote, and the final stop is in Valladolid. Please note that the order in which we visit the places is subject to change due to unexpected circumstances and is exclusively for informational purposes

11.- Apart from the entrance ticket to Chichen Itza, does the total trip price also cover access to the cenote and the stop in Valladolid?

Yes, that's right. The Chichen Itza excursion includes both entry to a cenote and a short visit to the colonial town of Valladolid

12.- Does the guided explanation at Chichen Itza have a preset time period, or does it change according to the group's speed?

The length of time we guarantee for staying at Chichen Itza is 2 hours. If you're looking for a trip that allows you to spend a longer time in the archaeological complex, please send a message, and we'll happily offer you options that align with your needs, like a private tour

1.- Does the cost of the excursion already include food?

Yes, a buffet-style meal with typical Yucatecan cuisine is included. The main alternatives offered are:

  • Cochinita Pibil
  • Pollo Pibil
  • Spaghetti
  • Rice
  • Beans
  • Salads
  • Fruit

If you are vegetarian, there are certain possibilities, although the buffet doesn't focus on meatless preparations

If you follow a kosher diet or have a food allergy, the most advisable thing is to bring some food with you and complete it with what you can eat from the buffet. Unfortunately, these special requirements are still new in Mexico, and we hardly have any specific options. If this applies to your case, please send a message to discuss this point thoroughly

Keep in mind that this is a standard buffet-style meal; if you're staying at a high-category hotel and prefer food with a greater diversity of choices, we ask that you contact us so we can find an alternative that aligns with your expectations

2.- Is the buffet-style lunch and the time dedicated to eating within the 10 to 12 hours that the Chichen Itza tour lasts?

Yes, the tourist trip includes ONE regional buffet-style meal. Nevertheless, if you want to eat more, you have the option to buy additional food at the cenote or something light during the brief stop in Valladolid

3.- On this trip leaving from the Riviera Maya, are drinks offered?

The standard trip doesn't include drinks. Nevertheless, we have a package called PLUS that does cover a light lunch (box lunch), drinks during the transportation, and two 350-milliliter drinks to go with the buffet meal

4.- What variety of food is provided in the buffet meal that is included in the tour?

Cuisine characteristic of the state of Yucatán is served. The main options are:

  • Cochinita Pibil
  • Pollo Pibil
  • Spaghetti
  • Rice
  • Beans
  • Salads
  • Fruit

5.- Are there food alternatives for those who are vegetarian, vegan, or suffer from allergies?

There are certain possibilities for vegetarians, such as rice, beans, spaghetti, salads, or fruit. However, the buffet-style meal service isn't focused on vegetarian dishes. If you want more variety, please send us a message, as we have premium excursions whose buffet offers more options

Regarding allergies, it's the customer's responsibility to ask if the dish includes any ingredient, they are sensitive to and, if so, to avoid eating it. To examine this topic more in depth, we suggest sending a message

6.- Are there opportunities to buy snacks or extra food?

Yes, you can buy snacks at the exit of the Chichen Itza site. There's a restaurant in the cenote area, and during the stop in Valladolid, you can buy provisions for the return trip

7. Am I allowed to bring my own food and liquids on the trip?

Yes, however, at the assigned restaurant, you will be obligated to buy the drinks they have for sale. Unfortunately, we are not the managers of the restaurant. Although they give us a preferential rate, the establishment's income comes from the drinks they sell to diners

8. When does the main lunch take place?

Usually, the first stop is at a hacienda, approximately 30 minutes before arriving at Chichen Itza, which happens between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM. This is planned so that, upon accessing Chichen Itza, visitors have enough energy and have used the restrooms at the restaurant. Upon arriving at the archaeological site, entry is immediate. Consider that our stay is only 2 hours, and it would be a shame for you to have to sacrifice time because you need to use the bathroom during that crucial period

9. Is water provided in the transportation, or do I need to buy it?

The usual tour doesn't cover drinks. However, we have an option called PLUS that does include a light lunch (box lunch), drinks during the trip, and two 350-milliliter drinks for the buffet meal

10. If the buffet doesn't satisfy me, is there a possibility to eat at another establishment?

You can buy food at the cenote, or snacks at the exit of Chichen Itza or in Valladolid. If you are someone with very strict culinary tastes, the suggestion is to choose a private or premium tour, or alternatively, bring your own food

1.- What payment methods do you have to book the Chichen Itza Tour?

If your group is less than five people, the most practical thing is to make the total payment in cash when being picked up by the transportation. For groups larger than five, we request a deposit to guarantee your spot. We also accept direct payments through our website or via a payment link

2.- Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, we accept credit card payments. However, you should know that a bank commission is added (normally 4% to 5%), and the only valid cards are Visa or MasterCard

3.- Do you accept credit or debit cards, including all major brands (Visa, MasterCard, Amex)?

We accept Visa and MasterCard, but we regret not accepting American Express. Note that using a card has a bank commission charge of 4-5%. If there are fewer than 5 people and you want to avoid that commission, you can choose to pay in cash on the day of the excursion

4.- Can I pay the full amount in cash at the time of pickup?

Sure, but this only applies to groups of 4 people or less. If there are more than 4 people in your group, we require an advance payment to secure and confirm your reservations

5.- Is the price of the tour final one, or are there extra charges (taxes, fees, etc.) that I have to pay?

The price is almost all-inclusive! The cost already covers the essentials: entrance and taxes for Chichen Itza, transportation, food, cenote access, and the quick visit to Valladolid. Keep in mind that drinks during the meal or the life vest at the cenote (if you decide to swim) are not included. Our commitment is to transparency: there are no hidden charges, and all costs are clearly detailed

6.- What is the price of the tour for adults?

You can check the latest price for adults for the Chichen Itza excursion leaving from the Riviera Maya by clicking this link

7.- What's the cost of the entrance to Chichen Itza for children, and up to what age are they considered minors?

Children are considered to be from 3 to 9 years old. To review the updated prices for minors on the tour, please check this link

8.- Are there special prices for seniors, residents, people with disabilities, or travel agents?

It depends on the season and the number of travelers. If you travel during the low season, we have more flexibility to give a discount. Please write to us via WhatsApp so we can review your particular case and offer you an interesting proposal

9.- Do you offer any kind of discount for booking the tour well in advance?

For logistical reasons, we can't accept reservations more than a month in advance. The ideal thing is to book less than 30 days before the tour date. If you're interested in a discount, we can consider it if you're traveling in a group or if it's low season. Don't forget that our price is already discounted! Compare our quality, and you'll see that we are your best option for visiting Chichen Itza from the Riviera Maya!

10.- Can we pay a part as a deposit and pay the pending balance later?

Yes, it's possible to make a partial payment (deposit) and settle the remaining amount on the same day of the excursion. If the group is 4 people or less, you have the option to pay the full amount in cash on the day of the tour, as this is the most convenient payment method

11.- If I choose to pay the remainder in cash on the day of the tour, can I use dollars or euros, or only Mexican pesos in the Riviera Maya?

We accept three different currencies for cash payment:

  • Mexican Pesos
  • U.S. Dollars
  • Euros

12.- What exactly does the "federal fee/government tax" cover, and is it possible to pay it with a card?

This fee is the taxes that the state and federal governments apply for access to Chichen Itza. The advantage is that these charges are already included in the price of the excursion. Don't worry, we take care of managing it

13.- Is a charge applied for using a credit card?

Yes, there is a surcharge that ranges from 4% to 5% due to bank commissions, and only Visa or MasterCard are accepted. If you want to avoid paying this commission, the best alternative is to pay in cash, as long as your group is 4 people or less

14.- If the price of the tour changes after my reservation, will the original cost of my tour be maintained for me?

Yes, of course. The main reason for our reservation limit (less than a month in advance) is to ensure this: once your reservation is made and confirmed, the price is automatically frozen

15.- Do you offer promotions or special prices if we book several tours (combined packages)?

Generally, yes. We apply discounts starting from the second excursion. However, send us a message, as each package request is analyzed individually

16.- If I pay in cash with foreign currency (dollars, euros), is the exchange rate favorable, or is it a fixed rate?

We already have established and fixed rates in pesos, dollars, or euros. We do not follow the exchange rate of the currency market, but our prices are within appropriate ranges, so the price is equivalent in any of the currencies

1.- Is the attendance of minors allowed?

We have two alternatives:

  • Children from 3 to 9 years old benefit from a special price and are guaranteed a seat on the transport
  • Minors under 3 years old are considered infants, they don't pay the tour cost, but they do not have a reserved seat, under the assumption that they will travel in their parent's arms

2.- Is any age requirement or health limitation applied to be part of the tour?

The participant needs to be able to walk, even if it's at a moderate pace. We don't impose a specific age restriction, but remember that the activity lasts for 12 to 13 hours, so the stamina for a full-day tour is required. For issues related to physical conditions, we ask that you contact us directly. The feasibility will depend on your health status, and each case will be evaluated individually

3.- If a member of my party uses a wheelchair, is it possible for them to join the tour?

Yes, they can participate, provided they have assistance to manage the wheelchair and have the ability to get on and off the transportion by themselves, and that the chair is a foldable type. We ask that you send us a message with details about the traveler's physical condition, as we analyze each particular situation individually

4.- What rules are unavoidable inside the archaeological area (handling buildings, deviating from the paths, etc.)?

It's absolutely forbidden to touch the constructions and to climb the main pyramid. Likewise, you must not stray from the marked routes, as you are in a jungle environment where you could easily become disoriented; it's advisable to always stay in the areas where the other groups and relevant buildings are located

5.- Is the entry and use of drones or professional recording equipment allowed inside Chichen Itza?

Unfortunately, no. It's essential to have a special permit issued by INAH (National Institute of Anthropology and History); otherwise, you will be denied the use of those devices. I have to be honest, the security personnel in charge of Chichen Itza are not usually known for their cordiality or understanding

6.- Are there regulations on the kind of sunblock or insecticide allowed, particularly in the cenote?

The use of any chemical product that could degrade the transparency of the cenote water is totally restricted, which includes makeup, creams, sunscreens, and repellents. It's mandatory to take a shower before entering the cenote to remove from your skin all those chemical substances that could impact the water's visibility and the aquatic ecosystem of the place

10.- Is there an inventory of items or belongings that are totally prohibited from entering the archaeological site?

Yes, access is restricted with the following items:

Technical and aerial equipment

  • Support devices like tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks (although in some situations, the selfie stick may be tolerated, the tripod and professional equipment are restricted)
  • Drones
  • Video cameras, professional cameras (DSLR, mirrorless, etc.) or high-level photography accessories (unless a formal authorization from the National Institute of Anthropology and History - INAH is available, which generally requires paying a tariff)
  • Microphones

Weapons and risky elements

  • Weapons of any kind
  • Sharp or pointed objects (knives, pocketknives, scissors, etc.)

Food and Drinks (with exceptions)

  • Food and edibles in general (to prevent waste generation and safeguard the fauna)
  • Can and glass containers (only water or liquids contained in plastic bottles are allowed)

Other Goods

  • Flags, posters, or similar items
  • Objects intended for commercial sale or promotion
  • Voluminous backpacks or luggage
  • Clothing considered inappropriate (although the rule is subjective, respectful attire is suggested because it is a place of cultural and historical value)

11.- If I have a selfie stick or a compact three-legged support (tripod), can I enter and use it in Chichen Itza?

The use of the selfie stick is permitted, but there's a high probability that the tripod will be denied

12.- Is there any rule about the kind of footwear that should be worn at the archaeological site?

No concrete restrictions are imposed, but it is highly advisable to wear sneakers and comfortable shoes. The use of high-heeled footwear is discouraged

13.- What happens if a visitor does not respect any of the limitations or regulations during the activity?

In the first instance, you will be given a warning. If you disobey the Chichen Itza regulations, the police will be notified, and you will be removed from the archaeological area

14.- Is there any current health limitation or safety protocol that we should know about?

Currently, there are no restrictions of this class. However, if you wish to use a face mask, you can do so without problem; it's a determination that is left to personal judgment

15.- Is the participation of pregnant women allowed on the Chichen Itza tour, and are there any specific limitations for them?

If the gestation is less than six months, they can take the excursion. However, if the pregnancy is more than six months, participation in the activity is discouraged

16.- Is the Chichen Itza archaeological zone appropriate for young children or for individuals with movement difficulties?

Small children can attend, and the most recommended thing is to bring a stroller or buggy

In the case of people with reduced mobility, each situation must be evaluated individually. Please send a message specifying the type of movement limitation you have, so we can give you an adequate answer

17.- What's the level of effort required for the walk?

The walk is done at a moderate or semi-slow pace. If you are able to walk, it's practically certain that you will be able to complete the activity without any difficulty

1.- How is it possible to make a reservation?

The quickest channel to formalize your reservation is through a WhatsApp message, although you also have the alternative of booking via our web platform

2.- Will I be provided with a receipt or reservation voucher? Do I need to present it on paper, or is showing it on my mobile device enough?

Affirmative. Once your reservation has been formalized and registered in our database, a PDF document confirming the contracted services will be sent to you

3.- What are the customer service hours?

  • Monday to Friday: from 07:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays and Sundays: from 07:00 a.m. to 08:00 p.m.

4.- Is it essential to make the reservation in advance?

It's strongly advised to book at least 24 hours in advance to be able to make the required arrangements. We accept last-minute reservations, but these are subject to our availability, especially during high season periods

5.- Am I allowed to transfer my pass to a third party?

Yes, we only require you to notify us in advance to execute the necessary modifications and send all the reservation details to the new participant

6.- In case I need to modify the day of my Chichen Itza tour, how much time before do I need to notify, and does this modification entail any cost?

You can request changes with a minimum of one day in advance. No modification fee will be applied, as long as it's notified at least 24 hours in advance

7.- What happens if I feel unwell or have an illness? Can I cancel the service?

Yes, you can cancel with a minimum of one day's notice. If you start feeling unwell the day before, the best action is to proceed with the cancellation and notify us right away

8.- What are the cancellation rules, and what is the maximum deadline to cancel and receive a full reimbursement of my money?

You can cancel your reservation up to 24 hours before the start of the service, and if you have made a payment, a total refund will be granted. No modifications or cancellations will be accepted with less than 24 hour's notice. Send us a message, and we will gladly study your case to find the best solution and provide you with assistance

9.- If there is heavy rain, do I have the option to cancel or request a date change?

Yes. It's recommendable to consult the weather forecast. If the forecast is not good and you can take the excursion on a later date, you have the option to reschedule, as long as you notify us with at least one day's notice

10.- With what time margin can I make my reservation?

The period to reserve covers from a minimum of one month in advance up to the day immediately before the date of the visit

11.- Is it possible to book just the day before, or is it suggested to do it with greater anticipation?

If the reservation is made one day in advance, generally there should be no inconvenience with availability. However, if it's high season, it's preferable to book with at least two days in advance to secure your spot

12.- What happens if I must cancel the reservation with less than one day's notice or if I do not attend (no-show)?

If you don't show up or cancel with less than 24 hour's notice, you will not be eligible for any refund. Despite this, we suggest you send us a message so we can examine your particular case

1.- What's the exact cenote that is part of the itinerary?

Please send a message to check which cenote we are visiting at the moment. Usually, the cenote we include in the tour is called Nool-Ha

2.- At the cenote, is any equipment like life vests, towels, or snorkel gear supplied or offered for rent?

Life vests and lockers are available for rent. However, we regret to inform you that towels or snorkel gear are not rented. For the towel in particular, you need to bring your own

3.- At the cenote, is jumping into the water area from the available platforms authorized?

Yes, there is a low platform from which diving or jumping is allowed

4.- For cenote, are there lockers available to secure my personal belongings?

Yes, there are lockers available for rent. However, the most frequent option is for visitors to leave their items on the bus. In any case, the decision of where to store your belongings is totally personal

5.- For cenote, what's the approximate water temperature?

The water temperature is approximately between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius. Since it comes from underground, the water feels a bit cool for the first 4 minutes, but your body adapts easily after that time

6.- Do the cenote facilities have services like restrooms, changing rooms, and showers?

Yes, the cenote has all these services: restrooms, changing rooms, and showers

7.- Do we have an obligation to shower before getting into the cenote, and what's the explanation?

That's right, it's necessary to shower to eliminate residues that could contaminate the delicate life of the cenote. It is advised not to use products like makeup, creams, lotions, or repellents. In general, any substance that can affect the water's clarity and the ecosystem is prohibited

8.- If I don't intend to swim, can I still access the cenote area and stay in it?

Of course, you can. Although it is highly recommended for the revitalizing and singular experience, swimming is not mandatory. You can choose to stay outside the cenote, an ideal place to take photos

9.- Is the use of image capture devices (photo or action cameras) authorized inside the cenote, including underwater?

Affirmative. However, given that it's a deep cenote, the quality of underwater visibility is not optimal. We warn you that the loss of your equipment due to falling is almost unrecoverable due to the depth. Caution is requested

10.- Is the cenote that is part of the tour a cavern, semi-open, or totally open?

It is a cenote that is classified as open, and its structure presents vertical drop walls

1.- Does the stay in Valladolid include a guided tour, or is personal exploration time granted?

The visit is autonomous; you decide which places to explore, such as the main square or the temple, and you have the opportunity to buy a snack or a souvenir to take with you

It's estimated to be a period of 30 minutes. However, this time can fluctuate, so we suggest consulting your guide for confirmation of the final duration

Our recommendations for a short time include:

  • The main square
  • The religious temple
  • The pedestrian streets of tourist interest

4.- Will a moment be offered to purchase souvenirs or typical crafts in Valladolid during the stop time?

Absolutely! It's an excellent opportunity to make those purchases

5.- Can we use the time in Valladolid to have lunch, or is it only a brief visit point?

Yes, it is feasible, but it must be a meal that does not take much time or, failing that, you can buy something to consume during the journey back to the Riviera Maya

"Chichen Itza tour was amazing! The Mayan ruins are a sight to see and this tour was wonderful. They thought of everything! Luxury bus, great food, and wonderful tour guides. The tour guides really helped make this tour. Without them the tour would not be the same. The guys that helped make this trip wonderful were David, Robert and Manuel. David taught us so much about the Mayan culture, I really appreciate his hard work and the fun and patient he did it. Robert also was so very kind and helpful. Manuel is an amazing driver and drove that bus with expertise. This is a great tour. I highly recommend it!"

"Juan was the leader and he was entertaining, knowledgeable and cheerful for an 8 hour tour to chichen itza. The tour was highly organized but flexible when it was needed. There was always time to shop, eat and find a moment alone if needed. I learned a lot about the Mayan culture as a result of this tour."

"We visited the historic Chichen Itza to include Cenotes and a Mayan town plaza. This was an all day trip with a 2 hour drive from Riviera Maya. The best part of the trip was the history lesson, visiting the ruins and learning Mayan language. The buses are very comfortable. You will need a hat, sunscreen, umbrella, comfortable shoes, loose clothing, swimsuit, a camera with selfie stick, and a backpack. Great service AND experience!"

"This tour was amazing!! Very informative and worth every penny. The guides were very knowledgeable about the Mayan culture. They had someone offering drinks throughout the tour which was a nice touch. They also provided information on the Mayans today."

"The experience, as a whole, was enriching. We were well taken care of. The guides really knew what they were doing, though, in my opinion, they talked a bit too much. Other than that, the day was interesting. They could have given us a bit longer in Chichén-Itzá, to explore, and skipped Valladolid altogether, since we only had half an hour there. It is important to say that none or the negative aspects mentioned above are enough to make the experience less than a five-star one."

"A wonderful tour with a magnificent guide. Victor, who used to be a teacher, has so much enthusiasm and humor. He loves his, the Mayan culture, and manages to draw you into being curious about it. The man must have been talking for about 4 hours all together but somehow you could not stop listening to him. He made us understand the mindset of today's Mayans and also the mindset of the ancient Mayans. Of course he told us the latest results of the historian's research but especially in Chichen Itza he enabled us to understand the purpose of the architecture because he made us think like their ruler. It was a long day, from 7am to 9pm, but we felt that it had enriched us."

"The tour was well worth it and the tour guide was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions and more! These people were extremely polite, professional & funny! I would highly recommend this tour!! The bus was comfortable and air conditioned and you could leave your things on the bus when you got off because it was locked once everyone was off!"
