Meeting place
We have to be very clear about the time and pickup area. If you are in Isla Mujeres it is necessary that you take the ferry to Puerto Juárez, the meeting place is outside the Ultramar terminal at the Oxxo (Convenience Store) located off to the side. Check this link
You have to get up early because we try as hard as possible to make the most of the day so that when you get back to your hotel in Isla Mujeres, you only have in your thoughts what a great time you had and the amazing places you visited.
Once we pick you up all you have to do is relax since from this moment on we take care of everything.
Lunch Buffet
Lunch is included in the price of the excursion to Chichen Itza from Isla Mujeres
Charming Spanish-style hacienda, clean with internal courtyards and beautiful gardens, swimming pool and a chapel. Walk around a bit because it is worth seeing the beautiful views. Buffet style food, very delicious, drinks are paid separately (not included with the tour). Be careful with the sauces, some are very spicy. They also present a short dance show with traditional clothing.
The food is quite varied and tasty, there are salads, chicken, pork, beans and desserts.
Chichen Itza
They say that it is the most famous Mayan city in the world and the second most visited archaeological zone in Mexico, with more than a million visitors a year it is only surpassed by Teotihuacan (which is framed in the Aztec culture).
The most impressive structures of Chichen Itza are located in the central area. There you will find the spectacular castle (Kukulkan pyramid), the ball court, the temple of the warriors, the observatory, the group of a thousand columns, the platform of Venus, and the platform of the jaguars. We will be very close to the sacred cenote of Chichen Itza.
During the spring and autumn equinoxes, the sun creates the illusion of a snake ascending or descending on the stairs of the Kukulkan pyramid, a fantastic phenomenon that attracts many people. The illusion is intensified by the sound and light show that takes place every night at the archaeological site. Of course, all the guides will show you when clapping in front of this place the song of the symbolic bird of the Mayans is heard: the quetzal.
This place was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988 and in 2007, thanks to the votes of millions of voters around the world, the Kukulkan pyramid was considered one of the seven new wonders of the world (along with Machu Picchu in Peru, the Coliseum in Rome in Italy, the Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil, The Great Wall of China in China, Petra in Jordan and the Taj Mahal in India).
Cenote
A truly natural place, it'll be the one of the place we'll visit on our excursion to Chichen Itza from Isla Mujeres, this way we can avoid the hordes of people who arrive after visiting the ruins of Chichen Itza.
The cenotes are magical places, the Mayans use them to supply water to their villages. They are underground rivers that can only be found in this part of Mexico.
This place is beautiful, you could never have imagined that what you saw in the travel brochures was actually true. The water is cold, but I recommend taking a dip. The first time you see a cenote, a large hole in the middle of the earth full of crystal clear water, you will be spellbound, and this is one of the most famous and largest.
Treasure of nature, if you like swimming, you cannot miss this. The setting is wonderful with plants and birds, the whole place is amazing. I advise you to wear water shoes to go carefully down the stairs. There are bathrooms available here, and they are cleaned constantly.
Valladolid
We'll visit the main park that is the epicenter and icon of the city of Valladolid Yucatán.
Here we will have the opportunity to visit the Cathedral, the Plaza, and the thousands of handcraft vendor stalls. You'll be able to experience the daily life of the people in doing their chores, it will seem as if the years had not passed.
It is a typical square, but it has a special charm because you can appreciate all the traditions and customs of the area. You can not miss trying a famous marquesita filled with chocolate, cheese, fruit and various other ingredients to suit everyone's taste.

Itinerary
Check our excursion step by step
In this section we break down in detail itinerary of our excursion to Chichen Itza from Isla Mujeres, it's important to explain that we reserve the right to modify the order of the places we visit based on our experience and always thinking about the general well-being of the excursion.
Times will be the same for the places we visit, the only thing change would be the order of the places.
For example, in the rainy season if it is raining very hard when we arrive at Chichen Itza we can do the cenote first and then have lunch to wait for the rain and enjoy the best of the excursion, which is the visit to Chichen Itza more comfortably.
The schedule in this section are illustrative and do not mean that they have to be followed to the tee, depending on external factors such as late people, torrential rain, etc. We will try as hard as humanly possible to comply to them and generally we achieve it 90% of the time. However sometimes things don't go as planned and we have to make the necessary adjustments to preserve the general well-being of the excursion.
We know that by putting the itinerary in this section can be a double-edged sword, however, one of the main guiding principles of Chichen Itza tours is to be honest and transparent at all times, we'll never lie to you to achieve a sale or create false expectations. If we don't know the answer, rest assured that we'll ask the necessary questions to whomever is necessary to always give you updated and correct information.
One of the most common lies that vendors, use to make a sale is by saying that Chichen Itza is only 45 minutes from Isla Mujeres which is not true. Chichen Itza is far from Isla Mujeres approximately 3 hours from Cancun and it is an excursion that will take you all day. Is it worth investing a full day of your vacation to visit this place?
The answer is a definite YES since we'll visit a place considered one of the new wonders of the modern world, similar to visiting the Eiffel tower in France or the pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
If there is something in this itinerary that is not to your liking such as the duration of Chichen Itza, send a message regarding our Chichen Express excursion we are in the archaeological zone longer, if you want to leave later, we have the option of visiting Chichen Itza private excursion (different price).
Professionalism, transparency and a good price are the 3 virtues that characterize us.

Reviews
ReviewWeTravel
We visited the famed Chichen Itza as part of a tour while in Isla Mujeres Mexico right outside of Cancun.
I was super excited as I love history and the pyramids scattered around the world even more!
While I utterly enjoyed the Mayan history and the ruins, I do have to warn other's looking to visit this site.
Firstly, be sure to put on tons of sun screen, pack sunglasses, and a hat as there is VERY minimal shade. I was burnt and I had the glasses and hat, but neglected to slather my body properly with sunscreen. It was roasting that day!
Also be prepared to be hounded by merchants. While I respect someone trying to make a living and the hustle associated with a historical monument, it takes away from the experience.
Also be patient when trying to get that photo devoid of a slew of tourist as it is a big attraction. It will happen, just take advantage of your opportunity.
All and all, great experience but take heed and enjoy!
Charles
We had a family group staying on Isla Mujeres, and we wanted to see Chichen Itza. I found chichen-itza tours, and am so glad I did. He was punctual, professional, friendly, engaging, and well-informed. In one day, starting in Cancun, we visited Chichen Itza, Cenote Saamal (beautiful sinkhole deep below ground), and a Mayan village. It was a great adventure, Our guide also found some authentic local food for lunch. He is personable, easy-going, and flexible, and knows the territory very well.
Chichen Itza is very much worth seeing - the vendors are not that big a deal. Guide arranged for a highly educated and outstanding tourguide, to meet us there. We had a wonderful visit and learned a great deal.
Sasha
We spent 11 days on Isla Mujeres and decided to take a bus tour to Chichen Itza, as we had never been there in all our visits to Mexico.
For $70.00 per person, it was well worth the money, Our day started at 7:00 a.m. and we were taken to at least a couple of "markets" (one was supposed to be a typical Mayan village with "all souvenirs made right here in the village"....some things were unique and very high priced, but most were the usual plastic-cast masks/pyramids/blankets), a short visit to a cenote (it was beautiful, but quite commercialized), a buffet lunch with a bit of a "show", then on to the ruins.....we didn't arrive there until 3:00 p.m. and it was hot. We left the ruins at 5:30 p.m. (delayed for 30 minutes because they were selling pre-ordered silver "mayan name" necklaces on the bus, and when they were delivered somebody's credit card didn't work.....grrrr!!! ) and didn't arrive back at our hotel until 9:00 p.m. that night; On a positive note, we did meet some wonderful people on the bus and enjoyed their company.
The history behind the ruins is amazing, considering there was no heavy machinery back then, and the engineering is mind boggling! Because our guide spent so much time in only two areas, we missed quite a bit around the outskirts of the main property. I wish we had visited Chichen Itza a few years ago when it was just ruins, and not a never-ending market.
When you first enter the ruins, there is a huge marketplace outside, which is fine. When you get IN to the ruins, there are tables literally lined up all along the walkways, and vendors are approaching you constantly while you are in the middle of your tour (whether the guide is speaking or not). I found it extremely frustrating, as the guide then began to try and encourage us to buy the "stuff" that was being sold, rather than focussing on the history of the ruins themselves.
This is an incredible architectural site, and well worth seeing. I would recommend you try to be there early in the day, and NOT on weekends (especially Sunday) when all the locals stream in. Our tour operator told us Sundays are incredibly packed. Make sure you have lots of sunscreen, water, bug spray (we got a few nasty bites in the shade), a hat and camera. If you want to use a video camera, you have to purchase some sort of licence....but we saw a lot of people with video cameras, and very few people paying for a licence. The history of the large pyramid and the ball court is amazing; we learned a lot about both areas.
Be prepared to be approached by vendors at least 50 times while you are on the grounds, and be wary of their "scams" ("Senorita, one dollar!" as they hold up a beautiful mask....hiding a little plastic pyramid in their other hand, which is actually the one dollar item). Don't get me wrong - I love the Mexican people and I understand that this is how they make their living, but it is intimidating after a while.
I hope this will be a helpful review.
Natalie
We had a great time. It's an extremely hot trip and masks were "required" outside, though no one really complained when I took it down for a bit in the 107 degree blazing heat. It's truely an amazing site and it's worth the drive!
