We arrive before the buses. Travel by van, travel in small groups
Many read history; Nico has it in his blood. Your guide of Mayan descent
My name is Nicolas, but everyone knows me as Nico
Welcome to the land of my ancestors. It's an honor for me to show you Chichen Itza not as a museum, but as a living legacy. Being a small group, we can go at our own pace so you can feel the true energy of my culture
Advantages of the small-group tour
Did you know that on a large bus, you can waste up to 1.5 hours just picking up people from hotel to hotel? Don't let your day at Chichen Itza turn into an endless wait. While groups of 40 people are still lining up to board their bus, we're already on our way in our comfortable vans, enjoying the scenery and arriving before the crowds.
Less waiting time, more adventure time. Travel fast, travel in a small group, travel at your own pace
The only catch is that, being an exclusive group, the price is a bit higher. However, when you arrive at Chichen Itza before anyone else and with Nico's personal attention, you’ll realize that privacy is the true luxury of the trip
💡 This excursion is only available from Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya. Send us a message with the name of your hotel, and we'll be happy to assist you.

Why choose our van over a large bus?
💡 We maintain a fleet of Sprinter, Hiace, or Transporter-style vans. While the specific model may vary depending on the day, we always guarantee air conditioning, comfortable seating, and a maximum group size of 20 people. Absolutely no large buses!
Experience Chichen Itza at a higher level with our small groups. By traveling in a van, you avoid the long waits of large buses, allowing you to enjoy personalized attention and genuine interaction with our local guide. Fewer people means more time at the ruins, a more intimate atmosphere, and a stress-free journey
Our expert guides
Ask Nico: The voice of experience in Mayan culture
To ensure your visit is perfect, we work exclusively with guides certified under the NOM-08-TUR-2002 standard and recognized by the INAH. This guarantees a deep and rigorous knowledge of the archaeological site, backed by years of experience. However, what truly sets us apart is the warmth of our team; their passion for Mayan culture turns every tour into a personal and moving experience that you will carry with you forever
Hi! I'm Nico, and it is a true honor for me to be your guide on this journey to the heart of my culture. Unlike mass tours where you're just another number on a fifty-person bus, here in our small-group van, we're going to travel as friends. My mission is for you to not just see stones, but to understand the soul of Chichen Itza through my eyes
As a local, I perfectly understand the rhythm of the region. I know exactly when to move to avoid the intense heat and the large crowds from the slow buses. We go at our own pace, with total flexibility for your questions and without the rush of conventional tours. Get ready to discover the real Chichen Itza with someone who loves and lives on this land every day. Welcome to my home
Aware that planning a trip to the Riviera Maya can cause some uncertainty, I have personally compiled the most frequent questions I receive every morning as people board the van
1.- Why should I pay more for a small-group tour?
You are buying time and comfort, not just transportation. If we look at it strictly, a cheap tour on a bus with 30, 40, or 50 people usually costs less because you are the one 'paying' the difference with your time
While large buses take slow backroads to save on costs, we travel via the toll highway. This allows us to drastically cut down travel time. Less time staring at the pavement, more time living the adventure
2.- I'm looking for an excursion that visits Chichen Itza as the first stop
Our strategy is clear: Chichen Itza is our first stop. By traveling in agile vans, we reach the archaeological site as early as possible. You will enjoy this Wonder of the World in the cooler morning weather and, most importantly, before the hordes of 50 people from the mass tours arrive
3.- Will the ride in the vans be comfortable?
Bus comfort or van speed? That is the big decision. Our vans offer standard seating, similar to those on a commercial flight, which allows us to be much more agile on the road and use the highway efficiently. We do not have a restroom on board, but since we are a small group, we can make quick pit stops if you need to. You will gain a 2-hour head start over the slow buses a trade-off of space for time that your photos at Chichen Itza will thank you for
4.- Will you pick me up directly from my hotel lobby?
Of course! We offer transportation service to the vast majority of hotels in Playa del Carmen. If your hotel has direct access from the federal highway, it's almost certain that we will pick you up right at your door
However, there are three important exceptions: Blue Bay, Princess Resort, and Bahía Príncipe. Unfortunately, the management of these complexes does not allow access to external agencies like ours. In those cases, we arrange a nearby, strategic meeting point so you don’t lose a single minute of your adventure
Itinerary
Note about the itinerary: The times shown are estimates to help you plan your day. Due to external factors such as road traffic or weather, these may vary slightly. Additionally, we reserve the right to adjust the order of the visits to enhance your experience (though this happens only in very exceptional cases), always guaranteeing that you enjoy every stop on the tour
Pickup Service: 06:30 AM - 07:30 AM
💡 We maintain a fleet of Sprinter, Hiace, or Transporter-style vans. While the specific model may vary depending on the day, we always guarantee air conditioning, comfortable seating, and a maximum group size of 20 people. Absolutely no large buses!
Pickup service in Playa del Carmen: We cover the vast majority of accommodations, from the Playacar area (including hotels such as Riu Palace, Tequila, Lupita, Sandos, and Viva Wyndham Maya) to the city center. To ensure an agile departure toward the highway, we pick up at hotels with direct access from the federal highway or main avenues. If you are staying in the pedestrian zone of Fifth Avenue, we have established strategic meeting points on 10th Avenue for a comfortable and quick boarding
Our strategic route covers the entire coastal area, from the Bahía Príncipe complex to Playa del Carmen. We have pickup points at the main resorts along the tourist corridor, including properties such as Catalonia Riviera Maya, Barceló, Grand Palladium, and Grand Sirenis, among many others. If your hotel has direct access from the federal highway, it is almost certain that we will pick you up right at your door
Our northward coverage extends from the Iberostar Playa Paraíso complex, covering key locations such as Catalonia Playa Maroma, Vidanta, Ocean Maya Royale, and Paradisus Playa del Carmen. Being a direct route along the federal highway, we guarantee a punctual pickup at these resorts to connect immediately with the highway toward Chichen Itza
Highway Departure: 08:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Why do we choose the toll highway? Because we understand that your time is the most valuable part of your vacation. While large buses take the slow, free roads to save on costs, we invest in the toll road to drastically cut travel time. This allows us to gain up to an hour's head start over conventional traffic, ensuring you are among the first to enter Chichen Itza
Chichen Itza: The Center of the Mayan World 10:15 AM - 12:15 PM
Chichen Itza is not just an ancient city; it's a gigantic stone calendar. Its main building, the Castle of Kukulcan, was designed with astonishing mathematical precision to mark the equinoxes and the seasons. At its peak, it was the most powerful political and religious center on the peninsula, where architecture and astronomy merged to demonstrate the power of the gods
The Call of the Quetzal
The most fascinating part happens when you stand in front of the main staircase and clap. You won't hear a normal echo, but a chirping sound that perfectly mimics the song of the Quetzal, the sacred bird of the Mayans
💡 Nico's Tip:
When we are there, I will show you exactly where to stand and clap. It's a magical moment because, even with hundreds of people around, that 'scream' from the pyramid seems to speak directly to you. It is the voice of the past welcoming us!
Regional cuisine: 12:45 PM - 01:45 PM
Enjoy an authentic Yucatecan feast with traditional flavors such as cochinita pibil, lime soup, and handmade panuchos. This regional meal, simple yet rich in Mayan and Caribbean history, is the perfect way to recharge your batteries after the adventure. Please note that while the buffet is included, drinks (such as 'aguas frescas' or local beers) are purchased separately. Enjoy your meal!
Cenote IKKIL 02:00 PM - 03:00 PM
If you are looking for that perfect postcard image, this is it. Ik-Kil is an open-type cenote, which means it's like a giant cylinder carved into the earth. With a diameter of about 60 meters and a depth of nearly 50 meters, it is a wonder of nature that looks like something straight out of a fantasy movie
💡 El consejo de Nico:
Friends, please take your time heading down; don’t rush on the steps. Hold on tight and enjoy the view as we descend. I’ll be right here making sure everyone makes it down safe and sound for our first splash!
Quick Visit to Valladolid 03:20 PM - 03:50 PM
Explore the charm of Valladolid, a colonial gem of cobblestone streets and colorful facades. During our brief stop, you can admire the stunning San Gervasio Cathedral, stroll through the Main Square, and immerse yourself in the picturesque atmosphere of this history-filled city. It is the perfect finale to capture the essence of Yucatecan culture in a relaxed and authentic setting
Hotel Drop-off: 06:30 PM - 07:30 PM
After an incredible day at Chichen Itza, the cenote, and Valladolid, it's time to relax. We begin our direct return to your hotel in our comfortable van the perfect time to rest and relive the best moments of your adventure while we take you back to your starting point.

Guide's Tips
1.- At Chichen Itza: Always wear sneakers!
The archaeological site is vast and the terrain is natural; you will be walking on dirt, gravel, and grass paths for approximately 2 hours
Support and Protection: A good pair of sneakers or closed-toe shoes will protect your feet from the hot ground and loose stones, providing the necessary support to explore the temples without excessive fatigue
2.- At the Cenote: Time for Flip-Flops.
Once we arrive at the cenote, the setting completely changes
Post-Swim Comfort: After refreshing yourself in the crystal-clear waters, flip-flops or sandals are ideal for moving around the lounge areas, changing rooms, and the restaurant
Water Shoes: If you have swim shoes (aqua socks), they are an excellent option for heading down the cenote stairs with better grip, as the steps are often wet
Caution at the cenote entrance: Please be careful when heading down, as the ground is often wet and slippery. We suggest walking slowly and using the handrails at all times to prevent any falls
The journey from Playa del Carmen to Chichen Itza takes approximately 2 hours. To make the time fly by, we recommend bringing a travel pillow or a neck support if you wish to rest comfortably in the van. It is also the perfect time to dive into a good book while we enjoy the scenery of the Mayan jungle

Your comfort and making the most of your time are our top priorities. For this reason, we operate exclusively in small groups with a maximum of 20 people. We use modern, dynamic vehicles such as Sprinter, Hiace, or Transporter models all designed to provide a smooth and agile journey
2.- What time do we arrive at the archaeological site?
Our goal is clear: we want you to experience this Wonder of the World in the best possible light and weather. That's why our logistics are designed to have us entering the archaeological site between 10:00 and 10:15 AM
Why this schedule is the key to your experience?
- Beat the intense heat: By arriving at this time, we complete most of the guided tour before the midday sun reaches its peak. This allows you to walk comfortably and enjoy our experts' explanations without being exhausted by high temperatures
- Avoid the large crowds: The vast majority of mass-tour buses from other parts of the Riviera Maya usually arrive after 11:30 AM. By entering at 10:00 AM, we are already positioned at the best photo spots, enjoying a much clearer and more peaceful atmosphere
- Strategic use of the highway: Achieving this arrival time is no coincidence; it is the result of using the toll highway and our agile vehicles. While other transport services are still on the road, we are already beginning the adventure

Yes, absolutely. For us, a guide is not just a companion; they are the bridge between you and Mayan history. That is why we work exclusively with federal guides certified by SECTUR and INAH, ensuring you receive accurate, in-depth historical, archaeological, and cultural information
All of our guides are fully bilingual in English and Spanish. Explanations are clear, engaging, and flow naturally in both languages, ensuring you don't miss a single detail of Chichén Itzá's fascinating legends and facts
4.- What's the food like, and what options are available for special diets?
We know that a great adventure requires an excellent meal. That is why we have selected a restaurant that offers a complete regional buffet, where you can taste the best of Yucatecan cuisine in a fresh and relaxed atmosphere
- Variety of dishes: From classics like cochinita pibil and lime soup to chicken options, rice, beans, and tortillas. It is the perfect opportunity to taste the authentic flavors of the region
