Our certified guides
Tonatzin - Your host in the heart of the Mayan world
Beyond a simple tour, we provide a true meeting with history. Our team consists of experts certified by the INAH, dedicated to passing on the Mayan legacy with the utmost professionalism and respect
Hi there! It's Tonatzin once again. Since I'll be one of the guides joining you on the tour, I've taken the liberty of gathering the most common questions from our visitors, based on my daily experience at the site
How long is the excursion?
To fully enjoy Chichen Itza, the two cenotes, and the town of Valladolid, the tour lasts approximately 13 hours. This timeframe is based on departures from the Riviera Maya, though the final duration may vary slightly depending on the day's traffic.
At Suytun, what time does the beam of light enter?
The beam of light is most intense between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM, when the sun is at its highest point. However, the cenote is breathtaking at any time thanks to its artificial lighting.
Is it mandatory to wear a life jacket?
Yes, due to cenote regulations and for your own safety, wearing a life jacket is mandatory if you decide to enter the water, even if you are an experienced swimmer.
At Ik Kil, how deep is the cenote?
It is one of the deepest in the area, measuring about 40 meters deep. For this reason, the use of a life jacket is mandatory for everyone, regardless of how strong a swimmer you are. This allows you to float and enjoy the hanging vines in total relaxation!
Are there jumps from platforms?
Yes! Ik-Kil has a stone staircase with an area designed for those who want to jump into the water (approx. 4 or 5 meters high). It is one of the favorite activities, but it must always be done with caution and following the staff's instructions.
Hi there! I wanted to share that for Sunday, February 22, there is a 35% chance of rain. Although the rest of the week looks excellent for exploring the ruins, it would be ideal to choose any other day to ensure a better experience. Remember that the weather can be unpredictable, and this forecast is just a reference

Join our unique excursion and immerse yourself in an underground world of beauty and adventure, where we will explore two incredible cenotes, each with its own magic and charm. Besides marveling at this wonder of the modern world, you will have the chance to swim in crystal-clear waters and discover breathtaking rock formations that will leave you in awe. Don't miss the chance to live an unforgettable experience; book your spot today and let the adventure begin!
Chichen Itza: The Heart of the Mayan World
Come and explore Chichen Itza, a Wonder of the Modern World renowned for its breathtaking architecture and profound astronomical legacy. Its crown jewel is the Pyramid of Kukulcan (El Castillo), an iconic temple that stands as a testament to my ancestor's mathematical precision a must-see for anyone looking to connect with the true history of our land
But the magic doesn't end there; the site is home to treasures such as the imposing Temple of the Warriors, with its famous 'Atlantes' columns and the sacred Chac Mool, as well as the Great Ball Court. The latter is the best-preserved court in Mesoamerica, where the ancient Maya participated in a fascinating religious ritual, testing their skill in a setting that still retains all its energy and mysticism
Cenote Suytun
Suytun Cenote is a visually stunning setting you simply cannot miss. Located in a historic former hacienda near Valladolid, it is famous for the sunbeam that filters through its roof, creating a truly mystical atmosphere
During our one-hour stop, you'll have the opportunity to swim in its crystal-clear waters or walk along the famous stone platform to capture the perfect photo of your trip
Guide's Tip: To make the most of your visit, you can choose between capturing that perfect photo on the platform or taking a quick dip. Keep in mind that our tour includes a second cenote, so there will be plenty of time to enjoy the water later on!
Cenote Ikkil
Cenote Ik-Kil is an out-of-this-world place; it looks like something straight out of a magical jungle, with giant vines hanging all the way down to the water. It's the perfect spot to take a refreshing dip after Chichen Itza and enjoy an incredible landscape that will leave you speechless
Guide's Tip: Please walk carefully at the bottom; the ground is a bit slippery from the water. We want you to enjoy your visit to the fullest, so please watch your step
Regional cuisine
Yucatecan gastronomy is a cultural gem born from the blend of Mayan heritage, Spanish influence, and international touches like Lebanese cuisine. During our tour, you will have the chance to enjoy this unique fusion of flavors and traditional techniques in a delicious buffet lunch already included in your excursion allowing you to taste the very essence of our land
It's important to mention that drinks are not included in the tour fee. However, you'll have an à la carte selection of sodas, juices, water, and even beers perfect to go along with your lunch
Valladolid: a charming town
A charming small town with a nostalgic, slow-paced feel
The historic center of Valladolid is filled with beautiful colonial buildings that reflect the region's rich history. Its colorful facades, ornate balconies, and unique architectural details create a distinct visual charm. Strolling through its cobblestone streets transports you to another era, allowing you to fully appreciate the beauty of colonial architecture

Duration
Please keep in mind that the Chichen Itze expedition is a full-day experience. Due to the distance from the Riviera Maya and because our itinerary includes visits to two majestic cenotes, a regional lunch, and a stop in the magical town of Valladolid, the tour lasts approximately 13 hours. We have designed this schedule so you can enjoy each site calmly and without rushing
Our excursions are designed to be enjoyed at a relaxed pace, so return times may vary. If you have a tight schedule due to a flight or an evening event, please message us on WhatsApp. We want to be honest with you and confirm if the actual route times will allow you to make it to your next commitment on time.
Itinerary

- Cenote Suytun (Life jackets not included)
- Regional Lunch (Drinks not included)
- Chichen Itza (Entrance fee included)
- Cenote Ik Kil

Nobody knows Chichen Itza like we do. Our advantage as locals is that we can offer everything from the most affordable classic excursion to private transfers designed for those who value speed and exclusivity. If you are looking for small groups or a direct itinerary without extra stops, you are in the right place.
Don't adapt to the tour let the tour adapt to you. Send us a message with your questions, and we'll immediately guide you to the experience that meets all your needs.
Guide's Tips
If you decide to visit the archaeological site on your own, be careful: during high season, the lines to buy tickets can last 1 to 2 hours under the sun.
As locals, we know the best tricks: there is an option to get pre-purchased tickets through local providers. This has an extra cost of $100 MXN per transaction, but it saves you valuable time and prevents heat exhaustion.
Need the contact info?
Send us a message, and we'll be happy to share the number. We are not a foreign platform; we are locals who live the day-to-day on-site, and we want your experience to be perfect.
Buy local and directly support the Maya community!
What's Not Included
For your convenience, please be informed that the tour does not include drinks during the buffet lunch or the rental of life jackets at Cenote Suytun (which are mandatory for swimming).
Optional Expenses: We want you to feel comfortable throughout the entire trip. Gratuities for our guides and drivers, as well as the purchase of handicrafts or souvenirs, are 100% voluntary and entirely at your discretion.
Since we will visit two cenotes during our tour, it is essential to bring a swimsuit, towels, and sandals to comfortably enjoy each swim
To fully enjoy the majesty of Chichen Itza, it's fundamental to bring comfortable walking or athletic shoes for uneven terrain, light and breathable clothing for the tropical climate, as well as a hat, sunglasses, and sun protection, as most of the tour takes place in open areas

This allows us to secure a unit with sufficient capacity for your group. - To ensure the itinerary runs perfectly and out of respect for everyone's time, we ask that you be ready at the scheduled time. Everyone's punctuality makes the experience better for all

- Per cenote regulations, water access is only for those who know how to swim, and the use of a life jacket is mandatory (rental cost is not included in the tour; please keep this in mind for your visit)
- As this is a full-day excursion under the sun and in natural terrains, we do not recommend the attendance of children under 2 years old to avoid exhaustion

- It is necessary to be able to walk short distances independently
- Climbing or touching the ruins is strictly prohibited
- The use of drones is not permitted

Read our traveler reviews"I have always found the Mayan civilization interesting, but now I find it fascinating. You will find out things in this new wonder of the world that will amaze you. For example, the Mayan knowledge of astronomy, physics and acoustics. Incredible! Highly recommend it! Me and my family took a tour there and it was very hot but it is 100% worth it. The tour was purchased directly in Chichen Itza Tour, so they picked us up at the hotel and the guide was a Mayan guy with a lot of knowledge of the country, fully fluent in English, Spanish and Mayan tongue. The cenotes within the park are not pretty, for that I recommend the one in Ikkil. Our tour included the buffet lunch which was very good Mexican food
"We combined the trip with a visit to Ikkil cenote nearby. It was a great idea as well since it was great to cool off after the hot day visiting the ruins"
"We booked through Chichen Itza Tour and they were fantastic; the guide was great. We visited the archaeological site, Ik Kil cenote, and Valladolid. It is a long day, and there is very little shade while exploring the ruins. I traveled with three children under 11, and the May heat was tough for them. There are plenty of souvenir stalls, restrooms, shops, cafes, and even a Starbucks"
"Great historical place to visit on a trip to Mexico. Our tour guide told us many interesting facts and stories"
"Even during the hottest time of the year, this trip was worth the price & travel time. It's rare to see such a unique historical location"
